Story

Hi guys!

Thank you so much for clicking onto our JustGiving page! So, possibly being two of the most disorganised people you know, we (Kealan and Chantal) have decided that in a couple of weeks' time, on the 12th September, we will cycle from Brighton to Exeter to help raise money for Enactus Exeter. We are aiming to complete the 200 mile journey as quickly as we possibly can, three days tops - the more money donated, the more energy we'll have in our legs! We are so deeply grateful for every contribution, big or small - Enactus is a project we're both passionate about and will be very involved in during our final year at university, so this means a lot to both us :)

A little bit of information for you all:

Enactus Exeter is a student-led society focused on social enterprise and using entrepreneurship in order to improve society and sustainability all over the world. We currently have 3 projects being run:

- BioSmart: this projects involved the designing and building of special furnaces that burn food-waste to produce Biochar, a nutrient rich fuel for growing plants and food. Currently, this project is being advanced in Kenya, where we are helping women employ themselves by recycling and growing food with these furnaces.

- Lighthouse: this project aims to empower homeless people locally by providing training/mentoring and skills that can be used to run a social enterprise and make them more employable. By getting homeless people into work, we aim to remove the stigma associated with being homeless and through education and mentoring, allow the homeless to feel a part of community once again.

- Recyclist: the project aims to use the Deliveroo cyclist network to redistribute excess food from supermarkets and restaurants to charities so it doesn't go to waste. An app to enable this is currently under development.

Remember, every donation big or small will make such a difference and will allow us to develop some amazing, fun projects next year - we really want to help students develop their ideas to create a more sustainable and better future for everyone. We appreciate your generosity so much, and thank you for taking the time to read all of this!

Lots of love,

Kealan and Chantal xxxx
