My son Joshua was born at 24 weeks and 5 day's weighing 1Ib 10ozs. It took the Nurses half an hour to resuscitate and stabilise him so he could be moved into the Unit. It was over two weeks until I could hold him. He spent 122 days in hospital. He was born with his lungs leaking and had numerous problems which babies born that early endure.
We nearly lost him on Christmas Eve when he had to be put in an induced coma due to his right lung collapsing. He will be 2 next week and has done amazingly well considering what he has gone through.
We raised £1000 last year which was split between two unit's, NICU in Ashford where he was born, and SCBU in Margate where he was transferred to once stable.
I am hoping to raise money to help purchase the items I have mentioned and any other items which the Units are in need of.
We are eternally grateful to all the Nurses and Consultants involved in his care, some of which go above and beyond their duties.
