Story

Help Sean Keep Digging – Support a Veteran’s Dream to Study Archaeology

At 68, Falklands veteran Sean has just earned his First Class archaeology degree from the University of Bradford, a remarkable achievement made possible by determination, resilience, and a deep love of history. But for Sean, this is just the beginning.

Sean isn’t just studying archaeology, he’s using it to help others heal. As a mentor with Breaking Ground Heritage, a veteran-led initiative supporting recovery through archaeological fieldwork, Sean plays a vital role in helping fellow veterans find purpose, belonging, and peace.

Now, Sean has been offered the chance to pursue a Masters degree in a field that aligns perfectly with his experience, passion, and his commitment to supporting others. But because of rigid age limits on postgraduate funding, Sean is unable to access financial support.

He’s not asking for a handout, he’s asking for the chance to keep giving back.

This degree would not only deepen Sean’s understanding of battlefield archaeology, it would also empower him to better support Breaking Ground Heritage and the veterans who benefit from it. His lived experience, combined with academic insight, could make him an even more powerful mentor and advocate for trauma-informed heritage work.

Have a crack. The last thing you want is to be sitting by the fire in your slippers wondering ‘what if?’ It’s never too late to try.

Your donation will go directly toward tuition fees, essential study costs, and helping Sean stay on his path of personal growth and contribution.

🦴 Let’s help Sean keep digging—for history, for healing, and for hope.

This fundraising is being done not by Sean, but for Sean. Please donate today and be part of Sean’s next chapter.
