Story

Gary's Memorial.Fund has been set up to honour a beautiful light that was taken too soon by the trappings of mental Illness and all the suffering and side effects that fractures the minds of the strongest of us. It is a silent killer that to this day carries a stigma.
On 09/10/2009 at 9pm this illness claimed another life needlessly and tragically, my son Gary, a 26 year young man with the world in his hands and a lifetime of memories to be made, Gary never got to make all his dreams come true becauae his road to his recovery was full of cracks amd he tragically fell through them.
I relive the memory of that tragic night over and over again and I'm left with many unanswered questions.
There are so many silent voices that need to be heard, need to be helped and need to know there life matters.
I couldn't help my son but I know he would want me to help as many silent voices be heard and given a hand to see their recovery through.
Local charities are feeling the cuts and this ongoing fundraiser has been set up in memory of my son with fundraising events planned over the next few months to help raise as much as we can to help those effected or have been effected by Mental illness, addiction and those who need a hand that is is hard to find.
Mental illness and addiction does not discriminate it lives in the minds of people from all walks of life, young and older; from any race or gender and sexual orientation. Every life should feel valued.
Please help us raise as much as we can to help as many as we can.
Help those people make memories and not become one.
Thank you in advance as every donation counts no matter how small.
If you would like to make a donation in a loved ones name please do, Gary was one light that no longer shines but his memory will forever live on"
The road to recovery can be a lonely road to travel and it's easy to walk in the shadows of those in need but to walk beside them takes someone special.
I know becauae i have also walked.that road.๐Ÿ’œ

We have raised to date on Justgiving an amazing ยฃ580 thank you all deeply ๐Ÿ’œ We have a long way to go with up coming events and with much needed support being raised for suicide prevention, it is time to understand 'Para Suicide' It's the attempt of suicide without the actual intention of dying, a cry for help, a scream in a tortured mind a need to be heard, it is NOT attention seeking it is desperation because if they need to seek attention their cries are not being heard. Help voices be heard & lives saved. #MakingMemoriesNotMemorials

Today is Gary's memorial and I wanted to thank you for your donations from the bottom of our hearts on Gary's behalf, I just wish he could of been here to help me lift the stigma surrounding mental illness but heartbreakingly he's now a statistic to those who use red tape as an excuse not to care enough. I want all voices to be heard so thank you for your support as your helping to make memories and not memorials ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š
