I am participating in a school expedition to Kenya in 2017..
This expedition will last for two weeks and will include community development work and wildlife conservation. The core objectives of this expedition are to undertake projects in order to:
• Raise the educational standards of developing communities within a rural district of Kenya.
• Raise the living standards of developing communities, within a rural district of Kenya.
• Assist with the ongoing wildlife conservation programmes to preserve biodiversity and protect vulnerable habitats.
To go on the trip I have to get sponsors and fundraise for my chance to help out the communities of Kenya.
The expedition is extremely important to me because I feel that I will acquire and develop many important life skills such as working with a group of people I don’t know, this will help me in life when starting a new a job and working with new people. Also this would be an amazing piece of work to put on my CV. Furthermore it will be an experience where I learn what life is like without luxuries such as: phones, internet, television and take away food. Moreover I am particularly looking forward to helping out in communities, making curtains for the girls dormitory so they can have some privacy. In addition I am looking forward to experiencing the culture of Africa, how they have fun. Whilst I am there I am excited about seeing the ‘Heart of Africa’.
