Our son, Charlie Slocombe, tragically died of a sudden cardiac arrest whilst playing a friendly 6-a-side match on Monday 22nd July 2019 at Hayesbrook School in Tonbridge. Charlie spent many years, from the age of six, playing football and progressed to playing for the Tonbridge Angels for fourteen years.
Charlie's life had just begun when it was snatched from him aged just 25. He had just bought a flat with his lovely girlfriend Amy and started a new job as a surveyor for a plumbing company. He leaves behind a devastated family: parents (Keith and Linda), twin sister Kate and younger sister Lily.
My wife Linda and I have followed Charlie's footballing career avidly since he was a young boy and would like to do something meaningful in his memory. We have decided to raise money for a defibrillator. As a qualified Physiotherapist, I attend many football games, some where emergency equipment is not available, and would like to be able to carry a defibrillator at all times in order to help anyone in an emergency situation. If I save just one person and prevent a family suffering the heartbreak we feel, then it would help me to begin to process this awful tragedy.

Thank you so much for your overwhelmingly generous support. The target I set has been far exceeded! I want to assure you that your contributions will be well spent. When the tragedy first happened, I had the idea that I could start a CPR and defibrillator awareness and training programme in Charlie's memory in my village. Your generosity has ensured this can become a reality. A huge thank you for this legacy.
