KEITH'S PATHWAY TO HEADWAY
My name is Keith Vallis and I'm a brain injury survivor. In 2022 I suffered a small stroke. I was recommended to spend time with Headway Basingstoke - the Brain Injury Association. I was welcomed by terrific support, information and services. Now it's payback time! It was recently my 60th Birthday so over May 27th and 28th I am going to walk from my home village of Overton, Hampshire on a big 60 mile loop to finish at Headway Basingstoke. And for the last 13 miles my friend and fellow brain injury survivor Steve will walk with me. It's also Headway Basingstoke's 40th Birthday. It's birthday cake all round and Headway Basingstoke do like a cake. They talk about the Headway Basingstoke Journey Cake:-
This cake represents the personal journeys of many clients at Headway Basingstoke, based on the stories and experiences they’ve shared with us over the years.
• The bottom tier symbolises the beginning of their journey when their brain injury occurred. It was a difficult and stormy time, full of fear and uncertainty.
• The second tier represents the early days at Headway Basingstoke. Though tough times are still challenging, the storm has subsided and there is a growing sense of hope as they begin to navigate their new path with less anxiety.
• The top tier symbolises the final stage of their journey, a place of peace and acceptance. At this point, life feels more manageable and Headway Basingstoke has become a safe, supportive space that brings hope and comfort for the future.
I would be very appreciated if you could contribute funds to this very worthwhile cause. Thank you, Keith
