Story
I have had the pleasure over the last 8 years to care for some remarkable patients who not only inspire me with their courage but I have profound admiration for.
For every hurdle they have encountered and jumped over and all they have achieved during their head and neck cancer journey one can only feel blessed to have met some truly outstanding people, not only themselves but their familes also. Each and everyone had a special place in each nurses hearts.
One such hurdle would be the need to communicate with their families. Having head and neck cancer could mean that most patients may have there larynx removed and for weeks sometimes months are unable to speak to family and friends. Some may also have part or all of their tongue removed making it difficut to speak.
By raising funds for head and neck cancer patients I hope to have enough money to purchase some tablet computers with speech applications so that patients can pre type questions and answers for family members and make their needs more understandable. Any funds left over would go towards radios and dvd machines to use in the long months ahead after surgery.
I would appreciate everyones support with my fund raising and in order to support my patients I have decided to not only to parachute jump from 15000 feet (an extra 5000 feet) but to run my first Great North Run.
Thank you everyone for your support!
