Story

I am running the VLM ‘London Marathon’ 2019 this year. I‘m not a runner, i have not run more than a few km before this year, and am quite frankly, terrified. But as in life - it was time to decide - to go big or to go home. This is certainly a challenge!!!

My son William has been educated at Gig Mill ASD base for 3 years. Its a specialist education provision that supports primary school children with autism in a small ‘base’ as part of a mainstream school. William is a bright, funny and caring young boy who happens to also have High Functioning Autism. Will was out of school for a little while before we found Gig Mill in 2016. He was stressed, anxious and was in full fight mode. We were all struggling to cope and William wasn’t able to access education.

Then he started to attend Gig Mill - he has been supported in a way that has allowed him to flourish and grow in confidence. They have stayed with him, when things have been tough. He trusts those that support him and in turn is now able to support others in the school that needs something a bit extra. The base was a lifeline for us when we were ready to give up - so i’d like to give a little bit back, now im in a position to do so. So please help me to say thank you, give generously and help other local children who might need a little extra ❤️
