Story
Winnie came to us as a rescue when she was 12 months old. She was weak with muscle wastage due to being kept in a crate with no exercise, we worked hard to get her well and strong, but not long after we almost lost her to an infection, we used all our savings and took out loans to pay for treatment which included Mri scans and we are still paying them back now. Once we got her back to health it became apparent that she had luxating patellas in both back legs, which is a genetic condition due to irrisponsible breeding meaning her knee caps are not where they are supposed to be. At the time the condition wasn't been severe enough to warrant treatment, so we plodded on for a couple of years until last week when she suddenly went off her legs. She is only 5 years old. After investigations and xrays we were told that she needs an operation on both legs to give her any quality if life. Her insurance won't pay out because luxating patellas were a pre-existing condition before we take out the policy and we are cleaned out from her last lot of vets bills. Please help us to give winnie a quality of life. All she has ever known is pain but it has never affected her lovely nature, she is part of our family and we are frantically trying to get the money together for her op as the alternative is not an option.

6 years agoJust a quick update on Winnie. She is doing so much better this week, she even attempted a little run in the garden and has started to playfight with minion again, somthing she had stopped doing when she was in pain. Also going on short walks, which she doesn't always appreciate as she is lazy by nature. It almost seems a shame to put her through another op as her left back leg isn't as bad, but it will be so worth it once she is completely recovered and pain free. Thank you all. Go team Winnie 🤟

6 years agoAlthough we've had massive support from people, there was one comment on one of my posts that insinuated that crowdfunding pages could be a scam. This has played on my mind, so i've attached a pic of the reciept from Winnie's first operation, just so people know for sure that they aren't funding a new conservatory or holiday to the Bahamas (as lovely as that would be right now) 🤣 as lets face it, some of you don't know me from Adam. Once again, thank you to everyone xxx

As a fellow dog owner I understand how difficult it must be to not be able to pay for your furbaby's treatment with the insurance not willing to help. Hope this helps toward the surgery.xx
