Story
I, Deacon Kelvin Russell, 70 years old this year, am currently training to run the Great West Run, a half marathon, with my fellow Deacon Brian Bargent and daughter Grace.
Kenyan Educational Sponsorship is dedicated to helping young people in Kenya achieve their academic potential, enabling them to realise their ambitions and make the most of life. Currently we are sponsoring 10 high school students (4 boys and 6 girls). Four of these students are aiming to study medicine next year, three wish to become civil engineers, one a dentist, one a pharmacist and the other is yet to decide. Without the help of Kenyan Educational Sponsorship these students would be unable to study at all
In the beginning of 2020, I travelled to Kenya to teach in two high schools, one for girls and one for boys. During this time I was distressed to see so many bright children unable to pursue their chosen careers due to a lack of funding. On my return to England I was determined to set up a charity to rectify this problem and created Kenyan Educational Sponsorship. So far each year I have been able to fund more and more students due to the amazing generosity of my community.
