Story

This money will go towards helping Kendra to get an electric wheelchair. This will give her the Independence to get a job and start supporting herself. Unfortunately the NHS has made it almost impossible for her to get an electric wheelchair without loosing the little independence she has left. Kendra is a loving, bubbly person. She has gone through life learning to be as independent as possible, she is able to over come many obstacles. Kendra is currently looking for an apprenticeship in cyber security, having the wheelchair would help her in this, so she can go to work, interviews and college without having to rely on people getting her there.

When Kendra was 18 months old, Doctors found a spinal teratoma. When the Doctors removed the teratoma they discovered the teratoma thinned the spinal cord, this left Kendra paralyzed from the waist down. This left Kendra with server immobilization difficulties. Kendra learnt to become as independent as best she could. Over the years Kendra developed sclerosis, this meant Kendra needed several major surgeries to help straighten her spine, hips and loosen her muscles. This caused her mobilization to decrease further. Kendra struggles to get around by herself with the manual chair, she finds hills and rough terrains hard and painful which means to needs aid to help her get around in public.

Due to this Kendra recently approached the NHS in regards to getting an electric wheelchair. The NHS told Kendra she could not take the chair outside, they also told Kendra they would take her manual chair away which was the only excise she was getting.
