Story

all this is to help me from being in any more accidents as any falls could be critical due to the size of the clots through the brain also to help get me mobile again .

name Kenny Hutchinson, 42 years old and unfortunately have a long history of illness since a child. Brittle asthma until my late 20s which is now under control to severe chronic asthma . fractured spine at 17 in an accident then some years later involved in an accident with a drunk driver, which I never fully recovered from and left chronic pain with now 5 discs bulged in my spine pressing on the nerves in my spine

these pictures show you how your life and health can change so quickly ❤️

But , using lots of disabled aids around the house and have to rely on a rolator to walk with quite a lot .

My wife had to leave her job to be my full time carer. She has used this time to further a better career and has been studying an open university degree to be a forensic psychologist. She was due to graduate this year but has had to defer, as I now need 24 hour assistance.

7 months ago, on the 11th July 2020 during lockdown, my father suffered a massive brain haemorrhage. He fell at my feet and passed away within 24 hrs, which left me in emotional turmoil. This caused my depression to rear up again and I turned to food as a comfort. Unsurprisngly the weight piled on. On 22nd January this year, I developed a headache and rang the out of hrs Doctor on both the Saturday and Sunday. I explained I had a severe headache and couldn’t stop being sick, each time I was told to call my GP on Monday.

Monday came and I rang the Dr, he immediately said the words I dreaded. "Kenny I think you might be having a stroke like your mum and Dad both had, and I’m calling an ambulance for you right now." After a mis-diagnosis, I was discharged and sent home .

The next day was Tuesday and I contacted my own GP. He assumed the hospital must have checked me over properly and I must be ok. He said he thought I had a long migraine so prescribed me medication for that. As the week went on I rang him again on friday he said look if you are still like this you need to get back to hospital so he said give it a few hrs and see .

I fell asleep and woke up a few hours later paralysed down my right side .

Rushed to hospital they discovered I infact had an excessive clot and stroke. Because it was undiagnosed 5 days previous, it had been given so much time to grow and spread and it’s all through my brain all over the back up and over the top .

I was rushed to the royal by ambulance lights and sirens going. I’ve never gone as fast in my life and I spent nearly 3 weeks in to get me stable . I have developed epilepsy causing sensory seizures that cause my body to just randomly go numb and shake. I’ve been left to learn to walk properly as my coordination is so bad I walk like I’ve got clown shoes on made of cement and speak like I’m a drunk . I have had my driving license suspended for 1 year minimum. I’m suffering incontinence my wife has to wash , dress do everything and all this in front of our 8 year old Son Jonah who has now developed anxiety attacks from all he has seen .

We live in a small barn conversion on my parents ground and unfortunately it isn’t fit for my needs now .

Occupational therapists have been out and said we need extensive work carried out and we need to contribute thousands towards also they said we aren’t guaranteed anything towards it.

We put everything we had into making the barn habitable. I cannot go outside as its too dangerous to get over the step and outside our house is all stones and gravel so I cannot use my rolator. I can’t risk falling, as being on such a high dose of warfarin and the size of the clot, If I fell it could be life threatening.

This is also going to have an impact on my recovery as I need regular exercise to enable me to gain strength back in my body.

So we need to lay concrete around our house just for me to get out even just into the car just to go to any hospital appointments.

We also need a new shower room and a new suite of furniture or an electrical armchair as what we have I cannot use now also a bed that the back can raise up as I have to lie at 40degrees to allow fluid ro run out if my brain to reduce the pressure in my head .

I’m lying propped up un pillows at the minute which is causing my already registered disability in my spine to worsen and its just unbearable.

Some people might think how frustrating it must be for us, but actually I thank God I am alive and that he brought me through all this. It has given me so many opportunities to be in a position to feel empathy for others in all different situations but especially in hospitals. This situation has opened up so many opportunities to pray with strangers at their time of need, so I thank God for each and every time this has happened.

We never thought we would be in this position and any donations will be a blessing to us to help bring some normality back to helping us adjust to our new way of living and to help me recover on our long road to whatever level of recovery God sees fit for my life .

It would also help take some pressure of my wee mum too.
