    Story

    The BIBAS Challenge 2019

    Gary Batey & Adam Baxter

In December 2017 our very good friend, Paul Irving lost his valiant battle against Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

MND is a cruel disease with no known cure and to witness Paul succumbing to it was devastating for everyone that knew Paul.

Paul sadly passed away in the Eden Valley Hospice in Carlisle. Before he was taken in there, he and his family had incredible support from Hospice at Home. Both these organisations rely heavily on vital charitable donations from the general public. As do so many other organisations throughout the country.

In support of these organisations and their amazing staff and volunteers, we have decided to undertake a walk to raise much needed funds and raise awareness of this condition in memory of our friend Paul.

Paul loved the Lake District and we felt it fitting to encompass that in our walk. To this end we will be walking the approximate boundary of the Lake District National Park. Our route is 161 miles and we intend to complete this in 5/6 days, starting on the 26th July 2019. If you are interested we will show progress of our walk on a daily basis.

If you are able to donate and help us in our efforts to raise funds for two wonderful causes, then that would be amazing and truly, gratefully appreciated. Please share & like on social media platforms, to help us raise awareness of the importance of charitable organisations in the UK.

    Thanks & Respect

Hello to everybody who has donated and those that may still donate. Unfortunately the walk has been postponed due to injury (one of us has legs made of blancmange and an ankle injury was sustained during training) but we are aiming to reschedule in October/early November. Apologies, but we left until the last minute to pull out, hoping it was still possible for end of August. New date for this ridiculous challenge roll be posted soon. Many thanks, Adam and Gary.
