Kent Crusaders sponsored ‘Basket-ball-athon’ event

Every year the dedicated team of Coaches and volunteers at Kent Crusaders work hard to grow and expand the activities offered to our family of players, making as many improvements as possible year on year….and 2025/26 is no different.

This year we have bigger dreams, bigger goals and bigger aspirations than ever before to provide an experience that allows every player to accelerate their potential, play more, and to really feel an integral part of a sporting community that genuinely cares about them.

But those aspirations cost money.

Having talked to some of our players about the initiatives we could run in 2025/26 to welcome new players into the club, develop our high flyers even more, and to support the club families struggling to afford the sport financially, our players wanted to find a way to work together to raise funds as one big basketball family…and the idea of a Club-wide sponsored event took shape.

So, in April 2025 we invite you to support your player and your Club through our Basket-ball-athon event!

Here’s how it will work

• We’ve set a Club fundraising target of £5,000

• In one week, the Club will be sponsored to achieve

o 100,000 passes completed

o 25,000 shots made

o 15,000 court length dribbles

• Between Tuesday 22 April and Sunday 27 April, every team will use their training sessions to record the number of passes, shots and dribbles they can achieve against the clock

• Every player will set themselves a fundraising target (shared with their Coach) to achieve by Friday 25 April using an online Just Giving fundraising link (Sunday 27 April for Mini Ballers)

• The overall success of the event and the fundraising total will be announced at the Family Fun Day on Saturday 26 April 2025 (Mini ballers will have their chance to contribute to the targets on 27 April)

• Prizes will be awarded at the End Of Season Awards Night on Friday 9 May 2025 for:

o The Crusader who raises the most sponsorship

o The team who made the biggest contribution to the Club target of passes, shots and dribbles

o The Crusader with most sportsmanship during the event

o The team with the biggest Crusader-spirit during the event

o (and a few extra prizes to be revealed on the night)

All monies raised through sponsorship will be used to fund a number of repeat initiatives through the year, to celebrate progress and personal development for players on and off the court, to launch new initiatives, and as always, we’ll supplement the vital Crusaders ‘Future Fund’ which is the charitable arm of the Club that supports Club families in times of financial hardship, ensuring every player continues to have the opportunity to follow their passion for basketball when times are financially challenging at home. This may be through the subsidisation of monthly fees, provision of training kit and/or trainers, or reimbursed travel expenses incurred in the sport; we do our best to fund whatever is necessary to provide a continued positive environment and deep sense of belonging for all our Crusaders to thrive within.

We hope we can count on your support – and your sponsorship - to show our Crusaders just how much we can achieve when we all work towards the same goal!
