Story

I am the PhD supervisor for 2 students based in Kenya: Victor and Kimeu. I am raising £3500 so that they can pay their university fees. Once they have their PhDs they will be able to secure university teaching positions giving them a living wage and enabling them to pass on their knowledge to other Kenyan students.

Kimeu

I have supervised Kimeu for 7 years -- he has completed his thesis and his viva, and just needs to pay his final set of fees and then he can be awarded his PhD. Kimeu has worked tremendously hard throughout this time, including overcoming a bout of malaria during his studies. However his finances are in a very precarious state -- right now he is struggling to sustain himself and his four children, Jane, Kelly, Emma and Yvonne.

Victor

Victor is at an earlier stage of his PhD. The photo above is from when I first worked with him while he was studying to obtain his masters. He did this very successfully. He is hoping that by obtaining a PhD he will be able to obtain a permanent position in a university in Kenya.

Victor says "I am the firstborn in a family of seven children, born and raised in one of the arid regions of Kenya known as Marigat in Baringo County. Both of my parents are unemployed , they are small-scale farmers. Despite struggling with part-time teaching at the university to support my daily expenses, I have to help my parents in paying school fees for my siblings, one of whom is in his third year of university and the youngest still in secondary school, grade 10, I am also supporting my two sons, Tansey and Rashford."

Please help!

Both Victor and Kimeu are inspirational human beings who have shown great dedication and talent. Please take this opportunity to help them! I just need 70 people to give £50 each and we will have hit the target.
