The Belfast Marathon 2016

Chris Hassard is running the full marathon.

The relay team consists of Keri Evitt, Julie Turkington, Lisa Evitt, Alana Johnston and Alan Robinson

We are running in The Belfast Marathon to raise much needed funds for The MacDermott Unit, Ulster Hospital

As most people know Alan and I lost our Dad last September to Multiple Myeloma Cancer. Dad was Diagnosed in January 2014 and received all of his treatment from The MacDermott Unit at The Ulster Hospital.

While Dad couldn't have spoke highly enough about the staff at The MacDermott Unit he said that it really lacked resources like comfortable chairs to receive treatment in. This is why we are fundraising through Crowdgiving so that the money raised goes directly to The MacDermott Unit and is used on equipment specifically for the department.

For those of you who knew our Dad he wasn't just an amazing Dad and Grandad, he was an amazing person to all who knew him. He was the life and soul of a party, always full of craic and banter and he was a fit and energetic man who liked to challenge himself. Dad walked the West Highland Way 4 times and in his 60th year cycled from Malin to Mizen Head in aid of charity with Alan.

So Chris is running the full marathon and has already kept to a strict training schedule from January and Alan, myself, Lisa, Julie and Alana are running the relay.
