I have known Mary since I was 4, 41 years. She is a traditional romany gypsy. She used to travel with her community, when government made this more and more difficult, she settled on a community site. Over the years the break down of that community and the way of life has been disappeared, so many dispersed and moved into the housing provided and forced into schools, locked up in the prisons, homeless or further afield. Mary lives in her caravan alone, paying rent to a farmer for the plot, who makes no allowance for her physical ailments or her age as far as his weekly rent goes.

Mary doesn't read or write, her only family moved to Scotland many years ago to live in a house, we are her family and have to step forward to show her that her knock on our door is always welcome and it is our efforts to make sure we can always let her leave with enough cash to support a decent standard of living.

The photo you see was taken on my little one's 7th birthday party. So many who have given in the past were with us to celebrate and so had the joy of sharing space on this day. Mary is humble, wise, kind, and offers only truth. Her insights with or without her crystal ball are accurate and healing.

Money isn't what she comes for, she comes to share with us, she comes when she needs to see a friendly face, she comes to see we are alright, and she knows we will give what we have. she has been so touched by the giving of friends and family and it has restored a faith in the goodness of people. I have no shame in asking for money, this is a lady who lives only in survival, every penny we generate for this fund literally pays the bills. When I am surrounded by such wealth, those of us who have security in health care, jobs, great cars, new clothes, meals out, theatre and music outings, fashion, art, holidays, travel, this is not a guilt trip, it's a recognition that helping one another is easy once we realise that we live in such ease and comfort in comparison simply by the priviledge of our education.

This is the second go fund me for Mary. I am currently offering my services as a reflexologist for half the standard rate and have been doing this for 6 months to keep the funds coming in. I will be baking vegan cakes and selling them, and am happy to work.
