I've raised £1000 to purchase a portable AED (automated external defibrilator) for my two children of 2 and 5 years suffering from LONG QT SYNDROME.

Raising funds for a portable AED (automated external defibrilator) for my two children of 2 and 5 years.
I have two daughters, Emma and Mia who both have a congenital heart condition called LONG QT SYNDROME.
LQTS is an inherited condition in which the heart rhythm has disturbances. This shows up on an ECG as a lengthened QT interval, this is essentially where the heart rests for a period of time between beats and with LQTS this rest period is far too long.
The most common symptoms of LQTS are blackouts and palpitations, caused by the lengthened at interval.
Lqts occurs in about 1 in 2,000 people. Unfortunately my daughters are part of this statistic.
Excersize and the heat has a very negative impact on my children's health, causing blackouts for which they have to be hospitalised immediately.
Being able to purchase a portable AED would make a indescribable difference to my children's quality of life. at the moment family days out, even a nature walk pose a huge risk of sudden cardiac arrest due to increased activity, this in turn means that we must always be in the vicinity of a fixed AED of which there are very few in the area. A portable AED would mean that my children could experience the world like their peers and enjoy their childhood, visit the beach and build a sandcastle, go on a school trip etc. The simple things in life that most people think twice about doing.
We have multiple appointments with their cardiologist in Newcastle which is a long way from home, traveling is hard with little children anyway without the added stresses of heart conditions on top.
Being a single parent family the cost of a portable AED is quiye simply beyond our reach, I am hoping through this page that we may just be lucky enough to raise the funds needed.
The cost of an AED is just under £1000.
This is the one thing that could save my childrens lives in the event of sudden cardiac arrest.
Thank you for reading our page
