Story
Kerry Tansey
As you know for the past … years I have volunteered as the GB lead for Adaptive Judo. This has meant many weekends and evenings arranging and delivering sessions, advising parents, players and coaches and more recently advising international governing bodies.
All of this has been as a volunteer as I love the sport of judo and see, first hand, the many benefits our intellectually and physically impaired young (and older) people get from being involved and more so through the power of competition and community. Not only have I poured my heart and soul into doing this role, with many hours spent, it has been financially very costly too. It is coming to the point that I can no longer afford to do a role that I am so passionate about, which breaks my heart.
In order to fulfil the commitments I have for the next 12 months I ask for support in doing so, this Go Fund Me page will enable me to take teams to Slovenia, Venray in Holland and then ultimately Japan in 2024 for 2 competitions, a training camp and an experience/tour of their dreams - the home of judo.
These competitions and experiences are more than just the ‘on the mat’ experience, our adaptive judoka have broken down barriers, shattered expectations and made us all proud to be involved and facilitate them achieving their true potentials. These experiences give them an outlet and their families a connection and international community like nothing else. I would dearly love to ensure this continues. Anything you can do to support, big or small, is very much appreciated.
Yours in judo, love, friendship and inclusion.
