Hillary Bowling Club was hit by the major floods in Durban, South Africa just last year. This is the second time in the last 2 years that the bowling green has been ruined due to floods, and unfortunately the club is in a position where they cannot afford to pay out the full costs for the repairs as well as the green to be reconstructed by a professional. My husband holds this club close to his heart as his parents have been members for over 50 years, and this is a place for a lot of the pensioners and youngsters to socialise and play a sport they love. The club relies on sponsorship for their tournaments, and in order to host a tournament they need a bowling green that is fit to play on, which means money being spent on getting this sorted out. The Club is properly constituted and is administered by a Management Committee elected by the members at each Annual General Meeting. Written records of meetings and financial control is exercised by a Treasurer and an Auditor to ensure the Club functions in accordance with all laws and the regulations of the game.
