2017 1 Ton sponsored litter pick for Nanna's Animal Shelter Irthlingborough.

Nights colleagues at Asda in Kettering have taken up the challenge to collect a massive 1000KG or 1 Metric Ton of litter and flytipped refuse from the local area. After the success of the 2015 1 Ton pick, which raised £625 for BBC Children In Need and Kettering Angling Association, we have already had hundreds of pounds pledged over the years by our amazingly generous colleagues at the Northfield Avenue store. Our past campaigns have collected 5000KG of dumped litter from around Kettering and the green areas of Northamptonshire.

We as a country spend 1 Billion pounds needlessly picking up rubbish, that shouldn't have been dropped in the first place. It damages wildlife, leaching hormones in to the environment which affects the ability of many species to breed. The Billion pounds that is thrown away(litterally,ha), could be spent on hospitals, education, policing or our armed forces. We are going to try to reverse just a small part of this huge problem, by picking up the local rubbish dropped by unthinking litterbugs.
