I've raised £120 to Motor Neurone Disease research & funds for a MND Clinic in Wales.

Donations….£120 could provide an overbed table, making it easier for someone with MND to eat, drink and read safely and comfortably in bed. £230 could fund the coordination of care for someone with MND at a Care Centre for a year. £500 could provide a tablet device with specialist communication software, allowing someone to communicate with loved ones. £750 could fund an MND expert researcher for a week
Inspired by the superhuman efforts of Kevin Sinfield raising money for MND research in support of his great mate Rob Burrow, I have been doing a tiny percentage of what he did to also try raise some funds. My aim on this page is to highlight MND and if possible raise funds for MND Research and also to help fund a clinic in Newport, South Wales.
My fundraising started off with my own 7 a day for 7 days challenge in which I ran, walk or cycled at least 7 miles a day for 7 days last November. On Sunday 11th Dec I ran 5miles on the MND Santa run, with my running buddy Skip, my dog! Then in January and first 2 weeks of February, I took part in DoddieAid, walking, cycling or running over 450 miles, again raising money for MND research and in memory of the great Doddie Weir.
After 15 weeks of sticking to a training plan, and with over 340 training miles in my legs, my main aim is to take part and complete the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon TODAY, Sunday May 14th, where everyones entry fee is going towards MND research. To be in the same event as both Kevin Sinfield and his team, and to hopefully see them escorting Rob Burrow around the route, with Robs wife Lyndsey by his side running as well, will be special for me. The event starts at 0900 hrs and hopefully I will be in a pub celebrating completing it by 1400hrs.
I personally dont know anyone with MND, but seeing how it destroys the body makes me want to help those suffering and also those who may be diagnosed in future. My niece in Wales has a close friend who is suffering from MND and is being helped and treated by staff at Morrello Clinic in Newport, South Wales. They have supported him in his fight with this awful disease. All donations made on this page will be split between MND Research and to this clinic on my completion of the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon.
Donate if you can, and thank you for reading this, I will update hopefully after completion of the event.
Thank you for your support
Kevin Brett
