I've raised £5000 to help with Kevin's funeral costs & assist with the family

The last couple of weeks have been shocking and heartbreaking for all concerned within the Portobello Rugby community and his wider circle of friends. The outpouring of love and support from all quarters serves only to reflect the regard in which our friend and teammate Kevin Bulloch AKA Bawbag was held and highlight the massive void his untimely and unfair loss of has created in all our lives.
The effect of this tragic event has been huge for us, but it can be multiplied to the nth degree when you consider the impact on the young family, Susan, Kyle and Orla, whom he leaves behind.
Our words of support have meant a huge amount to them and we need to continue to keep them in our thoughts and support them whichever way we can. Many within Bag’s social network, rugby club and beyond, have made it apparent that they feel it would be appropriate and right for us to support Kevin’s family with the myriad of financial cost that is yet another unfortunate by-product of this tragedy.
As a club member Bag was always looking to organise this, that or the next event to support the undoubtedly worthy cause that is Portobello Rugby. It feels about right for us now to step up, in the absence of one of our more vocal number, and do what he would he would already have been doing had one of his friends or club-mates fallen. Were it him at the helm, you would already have already been subjected to 17 Facebook thingies, 10 emails and 15 texts asking for your support!
Such was his effect on us all, there is nothing of real substance we can do to fill the chasm in his family’s and our own lives at the moment. If, however, we can make some small gesture to illustrate the abundant love and support which has been manifest, something that makes life that little bit easier for Susan and the kids, it would be a fitting reflection of the solidarity and kinship which was engendered in any endeavour of which Bawbag was a part.
