    Story

UPDATE: We successfully completed the walk just after 3pm on Saturday 14th September. Total walking distance was 21 miles, in a respectable time of 7 hours and 4 minutes (there was a bit of a delay in the walking when Alison joined at the checkpoint as we chatted to

Edale Mountain Rescue volunteers and had a few photos taken). Once Alison joined for the final 7 miles we kept up the pace of 3 miles per hour, but there are only a few photos as we were too busy talking as we walked (especially about Andrew), almost missing a turn towards the Robin Hood Inn at the end. The weather was perfect for walking, cool but sunny early on and T-shirt weather in the afternoon. The single beer at the end tasted amazing. An added bonus we hit an amazing £1000 just before Alison joined. Also, there were very few aching muscles or joints the day after.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, I think Andrew would have been very proud.

I've added some photos from the walk at the end.

    Thanks again, Andrews Dad.

I’m walking the 20 mile Nine Edges Endurance Challenge on the 14th September and hope to raise funds for the Andrew Gidney Foundation (Andrew Gidney Foundation ). The foundation was set up in memory of Andrew, my youngest son. Andrew and I completed this walk twice, in September 2017 and again in 2018. I subsequently completed the walk in 2019 supporting Andy's Man Club (with Andrew’s Mum and brother joining me for the last 7 miles) then again in 2021 – 2023. The walk holds many cherished memories of spending time walking in the hills with Andrew. From planning the first one with no real knowledge of the area (ordnance survey maps and a compass), to walking several parts of it in advance to make sure we were in the right place. Starting at Ladybower Reservoir around 7.30am and aiming to arrive at The Robin Hood near Baslow mid to late afternoon. I’ll be walking the last seven miles with Andrew’s aunt.

Thank you for reading, and thanks in advance for any contribution you may be able to make to the charity.
