In the summer of 2017, Anna will go and volunteer in a school in Namibia. Her school has established a link with Grootberg school in the north of Namibia over the last 10 years.

The students on the expedition raise money to be able to fund their projects at the school. The last visit (which Anna's brother Tom participated in) raised a record-breaking £10,000. Much of it was spent on blankets and mattresses so the kids don't sleep on cold concrete floors as winter night-time temperatures go below zero. Other funds are used to enable the school to become more self-sustaining - building a chicken coop, polytunnels for growing veg etc. and refurbishing buildings that quickly deteriorate in the desert.

So in order to raise sponsorship, Kevin & Anna are undertaking a mountain marathon on 29/30th October in the hills of Galloway Forest: 40km over 2 days, 2000m ascent, carrying ALL kit and camping out overnight ... not only this but Sunday 30th October is Anna's 16th birthday!

All of the money raised will go to support the school in Namibia not to fund any of her trip - that's her parents joyful task(!)
