Family running for family!
I will be running the oxford half marathon in October and my auntie Jane will be running the Winchester half marathon in September to raise money for an incredible little boy!
Rupert and his identical twin, George were born at just 24 weeks gestation in 2015. Devastatingly, George was born sleeping but his spirit very much lives on in his twin. Rupert defeated the odds and was able to finally come home after a 142 day stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). He is a gorgeous little guy, with big blue eyes, an infectious smile and is simply wonderful.
But Rupert’s difficult start is far from over. Due to oxygen and blood deprivation in utero, Rupert suffered extensive brain injury and as a result he has been diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy (CP) with dystonia. He also has epilepsy in addition to a severe form of childhood seizures called Infantile Spasms. He is significantly limited in all movement; he has no hand control and poor head control leading to difficulties in feeding. He is also partially sighted. We don’t know what level of physical and mental function he will have in the future but we are utterly dedicated to giving him a wonderful and fun life.
There is no cure for CP but there is lots that we would love to do to support Rupert’s development and most of all to make his life one of joy, love and laughter. That’s where you lovely people come in. Any donation great or small is appreciated!! Dig deep and help a little miracle!
