Hi everyone,

My name is Kalum Heywood-Byatt, I train with a local kickboxing club (Kendal Lau Gar) where I am a senior grade (2nd Dan Black Belt) and co-teach a number of classes.

This year I‘ve been invited to not one but two World championships (by different organisations). In October 2017 I went with Team England to win the German International Open, and in February 2018 I competed in the Cumbrian Open; these events qualified me for the ISKA and WKU World Championships in Jamaica (September 2018) and Athens (October 2018) respectively.

This will be the first time I have competed in a world championships since 2013/2014 when I went to the WKA/WTKA Unified World Championships, (held in Italy both years) and became four times World Champion, in 3 different fighting disciplines.

Unfortunately, since then study, work and lack of funding have prevented my return to the World stage, although I have kept competing in the UK, earning a (WUMA) Men’s Senior European Title and attained a still undefeated full contact record.

Whilst a great opportunity, these championships come with a significant cost; flights, accommodation, entry fees, equipment and training, all totalling roughly £2,000 per event. As a lesser known sport kickboxing does not presently receive funding. Therefore, these events will be self-financed and to help out with this I am looking for sponsorship and support as every donation helps get me to the final total.
