Story
As many of you are aware our friend and club mate, Mat Hodge sadly died last September aged 43, due to a cardiac arrest. It goes without saying that the loss of him to us, the older blokes from within Knutsford Hockey Club, is nothing to the loss that his family experience.
That said, we agreed some time ago that we felt we wanted to mark his passing a year ago by attempting some sort of sporting challenge; something that would make him smile. Something he could raise a glass to. Something he'd be first to join in with, with that mischievous glint in his eye that you just knew would prompt fun & games!
So: we've decided to cycle the 120 miles from Knutsford to Trearddur Bay; two places which made Mat very happy, on Saturday 7th September.
And this dear friends is where you come in please:
We would like to raise as much money as possible to contribute towards funding a heart screening day that can help detect heart conditions and ensure they are treated. The screening will be hosted by the Knutsford First Responders, who have the aim of saving lives in Knutsford and the surrounding area through delivering 4 services, these are; the provision of defibrillators in and around Knutsford, heart screening for the young to detect heart abnormalities at an early age, community heartstart, which teaches emergency life support skills to members of the public, and the First Responder Team, whose aim is to preserve life in an emergency situation when an ambulance is not immediately available.
To find out more about the amazing work they do just search for Knutsford First Responders.
Thank you for your interest & generosity.
