Story
In 2013, Paula and her colleagues founded KIN in Greater Manchester, driven by her vision to address the information needs she had first identified through her research in 2008. She believed deeply in the power of connected, localised networks to improve lives. That vision became a reality through Greater Manchester KIN (GMKIN), which grew into a wider movement expanding into new areas, launching innovative initiatives, and adapting the model to support other communities.
At its heart, KIN is about connection and support. We don’t reinvent the wheel we bring people together with the information, services, and support they need, both locally and nationally.
The journey of the Kidney Information Network (KIN) has never been without challenges, but Professor Paula Ormandy’s leadership, determination, and passion ensured that progress never stopped.
Paula was a distinctive and inspiring voice within the renal community and far beyond. With her unique blend of charisma, authenticity, and commitment, she brought patient involvement and engagement to life making it meaningful, impactful, and far-reaching. Paula never stopped believing in KIN’s mission. Her legacy lives on through the network she helped build and the people she inspired along the way.
If you would like to learn more about Paula’s incredible impact and her journey with KIN, please visit the story on the KIN website https://www.kidneyinfonet.org/stories/in-loving-memory-of-professor-paula-ormandy/
Today, KIN and Paula’s family are committed to continuing her work and kindly ask that any donations be made to support KIN.
Together, we can honour Paula’s legacy by continuing the work she cared so deeply about. If you would like to help continue Paula’s legacy, please consider making a donation. We’d also appreciate if you leave a memory of Paula and we’ll compile the memories for the KIN platform and Paula’s family and friends.
Thank you.
