Story

Hi Everyone. Hope we are all doing well, I know it’s a difficult time.

Some of you may remember a few years ago in 2015 when we all helped Ijeoma Ella Okponwa get a life saving kidney transplant. Ijeoma was diagnosed with a severe kidney disease in February 2014 and close to death but through generosity and timely fundraising efforts, we saved her life. She is not only leading a healthy and happy life with her family, but Ijeoma is now a certified kidney life coach and using her experience to help others fight the disease and live longer lives.
This inspiring life event kick started our passion to help others who not only face life threatening condition but also face insurmountable financial burdens in accessing treatment. So we set up The Kidney Life Awareness Foundation, a charitable organization to cater for the many people dying in Nigeria who can’t afford dialysis.

The Kidney Disease Awareness Charity:
Our key objectives include providing basic kidney screening to detect early diagnosis, educational and awareness programs, providing financial support and ultimately funding kidney transplants. We’ve already had a great response with three outreach awareness events gaining positive media coverage on CGTN, AIT and NTA TV stations in Nigeria.

The Impact of COVID-19 on Kidney Patients:
Unfortunately our efforts are needed now more than ever, in the current climate of Coronavirus lockdown. I know it’s a difficult time for everyone but for many of our kidney patients, this is a death sentence. We are seeing dramatic increases in drug prices due to shortages, dialysis treatments now up to +80% more expensive than before and many of our patients struggling to just put food on the table to survive.

Help us save lives:
We are asking you to please make a donation towards this cause. Average cost of dialysis ranges from N21,500 to N38,000 per session and some patients require 2 to 3 sessions per week. However, no amount is too small as together, we can make significant difference to someone’s life. If you would like to partner with us and make a monthly donation, this is also welcome. With these funds, we can continue to help the most needy and literally save lives.

Naira Donations can be made directly to: Kidney Life Awareness foundation, account number: 1016318916 Zenith Bank PLC.
Uk donations can be made with card payment/paypal.

Thank you so much for your time and support, if you have any questions, suggestions or equipment donations please get in contact with us.
