I run a dog rescue on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores. Many dogs and puppies are dumped on the streets or fields to die of starvation, if they are 'lucky' they are found and taken to the local municipal pound where they will spend five weeks at most confined to a small kennel. After five weeks the dogs are destroyed regardless of age or health. The only medical treatment given to these dogs are antibiotics, so broken legs, cuts, bites and other illnesses go untreated, often the dog dies slowly, in pain and alone before it can be destroyed.
Duchess has severe anaemia and will suffer a slow death unless she is taken to the vet for treatment. Please help us to save this beautiful, gentle girl.
