Did you know that in 2013, 284 people were reported to have legionnaires disease in the England and Wales? This number is rising, now on average there are around 300 reported cases a year.
This number can be reduced and legionnaires disease can be prevented.
My father and I are starting a business specialising in legionella compliance consultancy. Around 30% of businesses do not have anything in place to asses any risks they potentially have and do not have any preventions for legionella. We are looking to carry out risk assessments and monitor businesses water systems and assets to prevent legionnaires disease resulting in the number of these reported cases decreasing.
One of our many reasons for wanting to set up our own business is because a recent case not too far away from our home. A retail outlet was responsible for three people’s deaths due to a poor management regime. As a large family we would be devastated if this was to happen to anyone of our family members, friends or the wider community as it can be so easily prevented.
We are looking for your support to raise the necessary funds for equipment, salaries and start-up costs. This is to ensure that we maximise our true potential and gain greater coverage up and down the country so we can prevent further cases such as the one showcased in our story.
