Story

Hello, my name is Kiera Haynes and I am 7 years old . I was born with a condition called Fibular Hemimelia which meant that when I was 1 I had to have my right leg amputated just above my ankle. I try really hard to keep up with my brothers and all of my school friends but because my prosthetic leg doesn't bend at the ankle I find it quite difficult to run very fast so I really need a sports activity leg to help. I have been lucky enough to have an activity leg through the department of health funding and the leg has made such a big difference in my running, but this leg won’t last me forever and the funding is only until March 2018.

Some of my big friends Angus Willoughby, Marcus Garrett, Jim Garret, Sergei Melnikovs, Jon Harrowven, Ethan Harrowven, Andrew Willoughby & Gareth Bacon are doing the North Norfolk Coastal half marathon on 28th October (as a training event for something much bigger and tougher in 2018). They are going to try and raise lots of money for me to have an activity leg because my Dad and Mum said they are really really expensive. They are like £3800 each and because I keep growing bigger I will probably need a new one every year.
It will mean lots and lots to me to be able to have a speedy leg to keep up with my brothers and friends so please please sponsor them, they have even said that for every £3000 raised they will give LimbPower, a charity that has helped me to get involved in so many sports, £300 which will help other people that have the same as me to get help.
My Mummy wrote a story about my life from when I was still in her tummy up until I was 5, if you want to know a bit more you can read it here Kiera's Story.
