Story
The mandem - for the mums and dads out there, mandem is the term used for a group of friends or "homies" - Chris, Jack, Pascal, Susie and Will, are embarking on a 7 day trek to summit Mount Kilimanjaro in September. Kilimanjaro is the highest free standing mountain in the world and only around 65% of climbers are able to complete the ascent, so this expedition will certainly be one the most challenging things we have done in our lives. All money raised will be going to charity!
We had planned to put this page out a while ago but Corona hit which meant we were unsure if this was going to go ahead, but it looks as if it’s on now!
We have collectively chosen 4 charities that we would love to support for personal reasons, all money raised will be go towards supporting:
Umoja's mission is to provide education and welfare support to the most vulnerable children and young people in Tanzania, empowering them to develop the knowledge and skills needed to create positive change for themselves and the wider community. They want to see young people in Tanzania educated, empowered and living free from poverty, abuse and exploitation.
SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has been providing lifelong support to our Forces and their families since 1885. SSAFA helps people in need, from Second World War veterans, to those who have served in more recent conflicts, and their families. They provide all types of support from mental wellbeing, disability and welfare.
MIND is a mental health charity who believe that no one should have to face mental health problems alone. They are there for anyone, today, now, whether stressed, depressed or in crisis. They listen, give support and advice whilst fighting your corner.
Zoological Society of London's (ZSL) vision is a world where wildlife thrives. Their mission is to promote and achieve the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. It's made up of a unique combination of scientific research, worldwide conservation and outstanding educational facilities.
