I am going to be walking 23 miles carrying 25kg of weight, as part of the Scottish Kiltwalk on the 29th of April! This is to raise money to help send my Aunty Fiona to Mexico for ground breaking treatment, which will hopefully halt the progression of her Multiple Sclerosis. This treatment is not widely available in the UK at the moment, but has been changing lives for over 5 years in Mexico, where the treatment takes place.

For a lot of people we take our mobility, energy and strength for granted - but my Aunty Fiona works hard every week, just to maintain hers, swimming three times a week, taking part in PT sessions once a week, walking and cycling - and that's asides from working a full time job, keeping two horses and being an active and involved member of the community. She has had MS for 24 years, that's the majority of my life - but yet in my eyes my Aunty has always been an active, on-the-go, determined woman, who has contributed hugely to the development and support of many community organisations on the Isle of Lewis where she lives. And because of where she lives, she has missed out on a lot of innovative treatments which may have previously helped to slow down the progression of her MS.

However, there is a treatment available to my Aunty, but it is expensive, and it is carried out in Mexico. It will be a huge undertaking for Fiona, who would be put through a 28 day course of stem cell treatment and chemotherapy - but the process would then hopefully halt the deterioration of her mobility, and the progression of her MS. It's not a cure, nothing can give back to my Aunty what MS has removed from her for the last 24 years - but this treatment could allow her to continue living her life to the fullest - and see all the hard work she has put in to maintain what we all take for granted - finally pay off.

A pound, a fiver, whatever you can give will all make a massive difference to the life of one incredible woman and the rest of her family!!!
