I'm raising £200 to help unwanted Guinea Pigs find homes

Story

On Sunday 3rd May I'll be running Southampton Half Marathon for Little Wheekers Guinea Pig Rescue! This is my first half marathon that I've been training hard for so I wanted to use this as an opportunity to raise money for animals in need.

Since a young age I've been obsessed with animals and am always doing anything I can to help them. Sadly, so many pets end up in rescue and many rescues are struggling with the amount of requests to rehome they receive. Waiting lists can be extremely long meaning that they are under a lot of pressure. Independent rescues in particular struggle.

Over the past 6 years, I have owned 8 guinea pigs all of which have been rescues. They have brought me so much happiness (it's amazing how much personality these little creatures have!) and I would love to help more guinea pigs find loving homes like mine have. Every pet deserves to have a happy home!

I have chosen to raise money for Little Wheekers because I had a great experience adopting one of my piggies through them a couple of years ago. The rescue is entirely self funded and run by volunteers. Donations go towards vet bills and the ever-rising costs of caring for the guinea pigs while they are waiting for their forever homes.
