Story

Sheila Sutcliffe was my Mum. Who died of Parkinson's August 20th 2017. My dad & I both cared for her. My dad (Who is 87 in August) is still Secretary for Parkinson's Leeds & District. The hardest thing was see this happy happy woman who always looked on the bright side go down hill but her smile was always there to remind us she was still Sheila Darling wife lovely mother a super role model not only to her own children but to those she fostered for many years. I wasn't going to do Leeds 10k this year just because I am still mourning her loss and to be frank thought what's the point but then after reading Joannes post someone who says i inspired to take up running last year has decided to take the plunge and run in 10k for the first time this year it got me thinking. To Do something positive and that something helped me through my mums illness RUNNING it cleared my head pounding the streets releasing what I didn't realise at the time aggression but with the sun on my face it's where I can tackle a new day even on the day of her funeral I went for a 15k run before I did her eulogy and service which she had asked me to do.
Parkinson's affects people differently with Mum it affected her balance she ended up in hospital 20 times in a year for one injury or another but mostly for head injuries due to loss of balance. Like any disease it can be hard finding the tablets that work for the individual and in that time Parkinson's can progress very rapidly. I feel Very passionately about raising funds to help research. Please spare a thought spare a pound. To The people who live with Parkinson's every day the carers who tirelessly look after them everyday 24/7.
And lastly thank you to everyone who supported us. The staff at LGI & St James's did a wonderful wonderful job we can't thank you enough.
