Story

The Kindred Academy is a fictional school showcasing emotional awareness, kindness and compassion amongst children.

The inspiration of the International Health and Wellness Alliance (IHWA) began around the time of the EU referendum vote in the UK. Amidst recognition of division in communities, a rise in race and hate crime and our simultaneous pledge as an organisation, to transform ten million lives in ten years we felt compelled to take action. We sought to create something simple and easy to resonate with, something that could become habitual in all lifestyle environments; from transport and health to education and retail.

Intention@10 was the initial creation; a daily decision to do good for yourself and others at 10am/pm each day to restore and positively unify communities through a social movement for health and humanity. It became quickly evident that we would need to focus on, and specifically, tailor to, different areas of society. We drew the conclusion that children and schools are the most intrinsic foundational choice and a platform that everything else can manifest from.

The Intention@10 concept was then tailored to resonate with 5-7 year olds and ‘Kindred Academy’ was created. The finished product is a toolkit containing a storybook (excerpts below), prompt cards, curated class sessions and supporting materials that fit with the education curriculum of the UK but can also be taken and translated internationally.

The Kindred Academy is a fictional school with globally found animal characters who subtly embrace a cross sector of race, culture and personality. The characters intentionally make themselves and everyone around them feel better through a kindly consciousness of their own actions and an awareness of how others are feeling. Ten little things that make a big difference to how they, their friends, teachers and parents feel.
