Story
With over 100 current members, Kings Newton Bowls Club is an important part of the local community, and this has been key to our vision for the club’s future. We want to offer the local community something new: a modern, purpose-built venue for all ages and abilities to enjoy social events, classes and affordable room hire. This has become even more important following the recent closure of the Melbourne Bowling Club and Melbourne Senior Citizen Community Centre.
Our existing clubhouse has been in place since the club was founded in 1982 although part of the structure began life as a mobile home in Skegness, purchased by the club for the princely sum of £1,500! Although our clubhouse has served us well, the time has come to look to the future and build a new, inclusive, sustainable facility.
We’re already well on our way thanks to the support of our members, with consultants already working on our behalf to prepare designs for our new building. However, we need to continue fundraising in order to proceed through the construction phase, with the aim of our new venue opening to the public in Spring 2023.
