Story

Children are the most vulnerable population affected by poverty and HIV/AIDS. The UNICEF estimates that children below 18 years make up 49 per cent of the population of Kenya, and 62 per cent of the population is below 24 years old. Over 75 per cent of children and adolescents experience one or more deprivations of their rights, including limited access to safe water and improved sanitation, education and health and nutrition services.

One of Positive Life Kenya's main goals is to offer opportunities for our children in Mlolongo, Athi River, Lukenya Hills and other communities we serve.

Currently, Positive Life Kenya runs two schools, one in Kicheko slum and another in Lukenya Hils, serving more than 180 children ages 3 to 14. One of its schools, Kiotani, is a boarding school for children from The Forgotten Slums. Kiotani rescues these children from extremely harsh backgrounds and gives them the opportunity of a better future. Education empowers people, and these children have the chance to break the poverty cycle their families are trapped in.

Kiotani needs funding for vital resources - specifically mattresses and desks. This will allow the school to house and educate as many children as possible, giving them a comfortable environment in which to learn and grow.
