Story

On the 20th September 2024 our lives turned upside down

After an amazing morning together we went home on the motorbike and my husband said I’ll go and get our little boy who’s 13 from school on the motorbike 🏍️ Yeeh absolutely he loved daddy doing this

My husband Jamie phoned me at 14.50 saying come here now we’ve been in an accident and dropped to the floor instantly

As a mum and a wife my heart was in my chest I didn’t know what I was expecting when I got to college road from our house

Jamie throw Matt off the bike so he was absolutely okay, just a few cuts and bruises and more trauma mentally. As he saw it all and Matt being autistic he hides a lot of his emotions so we never know what his feeling or thinking even to this day

Jamie was trapped between the car and the bike with his left leg in such a state we didn’t know what was happening, I made sure Matt had someone with him whilst being in an ambulance whilst I was between Jamie and Matt.

Matt was discharged at the scene

I then went straight into a police car to QEQM where Jamie was taken to be assisted to what will happen next this was critical he had to be airlifted to kings college in London where he remains now

Jamie was airlifted and I was in the back of the police car all the way to kings college I had no idea what I was expecting or not knowing what was next for Jamie

The first 48 hours was critical and he could of lost his leg or had a horrible kind of infection that could of been worse for Jamie and his chances to have his leg saved was slim

Jamie was in for surgery the next day to put pins inn but that wasn’t suitable for the way his leg was so they had to pin it in a different way which was new for kings college hospital and this was when he could of lost his leg but they saved it

So they waited for the best day to do the next surgery which was the first ever time they done it using titanium rods as a bone with the limited amount of bone he has left in his leg

That was a complete success but it’s early days he needs to learn how to walk again

He’s absolutely terrified of even getting back on the road

His a bus driver as a job and he loved driving cars, buses and his motorbike he was an absolute safe driver he was so careful even with me or his son on the bike or car

I never thought this would of happened to us in a million years and this has changed our whole lives being a family who like to play golf and go on rides to not knowing what our future holds is absolutely terrifying

I’m not asking for much just something to help us through this difficult patch as we don’t want to worry about anything I just want my family together again
