I am one of those detestable people who love their job and where they work. Kirby Primary Academy is a small village primary school where I have now worked for over 2 years.

This year, one of our priorities has been to develop our ICT provision so that we can provide our children with a deep, engaging Computing curriculum that will set them up for life in the 21st Century. However, these efforts have been stifled by outdated resources and a lack of funds to replace them.

What we have lacked in money has been more than made up for in the willingness of parents and the local community to support the school. As a result, this year, our PTA has been 'rebooted' with a huge team of wonderful people who have worked tirelessly to raise the money that the school needs. While they are incredibly close to their target, I felt it essential that, as a member of staff who cares just as much about the school, I also play my part in raising money.

I have been running for around 4 years now, running several half marathons and two marathons (in Berlin and Venice). In six weeks, I will be running my third marathon in the beautiful city of Rotterdam. The training has been going well, but I know that the knowledge that I will now be running to raise funds for the school will give me the extra boost that I will need to get me round the course!

I have set the target on this page at £400, but I am hoping that this will increase once donations start pouring in. (For my Berlin marathon efforts, £750 was raised for Mind so hopefully this will surpass that amount).

Please, please, please give generously to help the wonderful children that I have the joy of teaching every day. I look forward to seeing the funds flowing in for this great cause!
