I've raised £1000 to help fund an outdoor book exchange box in Kirkstall!

You can see the waterproofed book exchange boxes all around the city , peeking out of hedges or boldly raised on posts in front gardens, school playgrounds and parks. Each one is a couple of feet tall and houses about 40 books, with the initial stock coming from donations.
Some of these book exchange boxes have been funded by individual donors, while others are supported by local businesses. As the word of these book boxes spreads, neighbourhoods are starting to want their own. As a Kirkstall resident, I would love for Kirkstall to have its own outdoor little library (first of many for the area I hope!) and am raising money initially through crowdfunding on social media.
Open 24 hours a day, the honesty box library intends to complement your local library, act as a local meeting place and promote sharing and reusing. We, the local community, are fundraising to cover the costs of building the weatherproof box, a beautiful hand-painted design by a local artist, and installation. The life expectancy of the box is 10 years and I propose to help with the upkeep of the box and keeping it well-stocked.
The box will be open for everyone to use, so not hidden away or a huge trek away from where people live or visit.
I will keep you updated on progress and please ask any questions or get in touch if you'd like to be involved.
Thank you for your support and please share!
