Story

December...my favourite time of year! Birthdays, Christmas and of course the infamous SWCHS Charities Week!! On an unsuspecting Tuesday in October, as the Sixth Form Team are decided their theme for dressing up, I may have uttered that I would shave my hair for the character I had been allocated...but only if we raise enough money and only if it can go to a very special cause. The most worrying thing is that I may have also agreed to it being done in school and possibly by one of the Sixth Form Team, or even my own husband!!!

So...here we are - raising money for Addenbrookes Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This is a very special cause for us as a family, as our little boy spent 6 weeks being cared for by the most amazing team here after his birth. If it wasn't for the tenacity, care, knowledge, love and support of the team of nurses and doctors in NICU, we may not have been able to bring a healthy little boy home with us. We shared lots of difficult moments and conversations in NICU, but we also shared some wonderfully happy moments that we will cherish. We know we aren't alone in the NICU family though, as other staff, parents and students will have also experienced the amazing care here too. Also, if my hair is long enough, we will also be sending it to the Little Princess Trust.

Albert will be almost be 16 months old when it is Charities Week - in the photo he was only a couple of hours old. Whilst he is unrecognisable now, I hope he will still recognise me if I do raise enough money to shave my hair! So, what are you waiting for...dig deep if you want to see me go through with it.
