    Story

We now invite you to be a part of KITA…

    K I T A - (translated from Bahasa Indonesian: inclusive pronoun ‘our/us’ )

16th July 2022 at Peoples Republic of Stokes Croft.

This a brand new Bristol based festival that celebrates the theme of identity with a focus on mixed-race, asian and underrepresented ethnic minorities.

We are carefully curating a diverse line up of visual artists, performers, DJs and vendors; we will be announcing the full line up in the coming weeks.

    KITA’s AIMS:

    1. To form a community of people in Bristol who have shared experiences; who can support each other both creatively and in a more general sense.

    2. To create, contribute, and sustain conversations in Bristol around concepts such as identity and connection/disconnection for POC communities, focusing on - but not limited to - the experience of mixed race people.

    3. To begin of a collective/network that will hold more events in the future, thereby providing a platform and opportunity for mixed race/POC creatives in Bristol to showcase their work and heritage without having to compromise to white dominant spaces.

    4. To provide an educational experience to those who want it e.g. people from the white majority who want to educate themselves, interracial families who are raising children in Bristol etc.

We are now seeking financial donations.

This is a self funded, non profit event with the sole intention of creating a safe community for underrepresented groups to come together and express their ideas. This will be a ticketed event and all the proceeds will go towards putting on the event. However, as you can imagine, hiring a venue, equipment and ensuring the longevity of KITA comes at a price. If you are able to donate to KITA, we would greatly appreciate it! Your money will ultimately go towards continuing the conversation around identity and race, through Bristol based community events.

    Thank you so much.
