Story

This year whilst on a summer camp in America, one of our fellow counsellors Izzy (camp name Kitty) was sadly sent home after finding out that she had cancer. While on camp, Izzy (Kitty) had an infection in her mouth, thought to be caused by a wisdom tooth. Unfortunately after having an operation to remove her tooth, they found that it was actually a cancerous tumour causing the pain. On returning home Izzy (Kitty) was diagnosed with stage 4 Papillary Kidney Cancer with secondary tumours in her liver, lymph glands and bones.

Izzy (Kitty) is currently in Clatterbridge Hospital where she was receiving immunotherapy and radiotherapy. Sadly due to continued growth in the liver and no change in the spine and pelvis it means that the immunotherapy has had limited success. Izzy (Kitty) has been advised to move on to a targeted therapy that aims to ease the pain in her bones.

A group of counsellors are going to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge on the 28th of January to raise money for both Claire House charity and The Teenage Cancer Trust, charities chosen by Izzy (Kitty), both of whom are helping her with her treatment. Our aim is to raise money to thank both charities for all the help and support that they have given to Izzy (Kitty) and her family.
