We are running the London Landmarks Half Marathon because... Kids Need Kiwanis!

KAS Youth Hub is partnering with Kiwanis UK at the London Landmarks Half Marathon because we believe more people in the UK should have a chance to support the work of this wonderful service organization. We have dedicated runners and walkers who will use their charitable spirit to push them to the finish line. And they are doing all of this because, like us, they believe in the work of Kiwanis.

Why Kiwanis?

Kiwanis is the third-largest service organization club in the world. Kiwanis believes that every child deserves to be happy, healthy, and loved. 385,000 babies will be born today, and again tomorrow, and again the next day and many of them will need Kiwanis.

At KAS Youth Hub, we are partnering with Kiwanis UK to support its projects on health and nutrition, education and literacy, and youth development leadership.

How Will Kiwanis UK Use Funds Raised?

Health and Nutrition - Every 5 seconds, a child under the age of 15 dies from mostly preventable causes such as not having access to safe water, good nutrition, or routine health care and immunizations. Our most recent success is our effort to fight maternal and neonatal tetanus. With our help, 27 countries have eliminated the disease. Infant mortality from tetanus has declined 96% across the world. Kiwanis UK will use the funds raised to contribute to the Kiwanis Children's Fund to continue its work to eradicate neonatal tetanus in 12 countries.

Education and Literacy - Even before the COVID-19 pandemic shook the world, as many as 72 million children are not in school, and 617 million children lack basic math and literacy skills. Kiwanis UK will use the funds raised from LLHM to purchase 5-year subscriptions to the Dolly Parton children's Library for at least 50 children.

Youth Leadership Development - By providing kids with better educational resources and opportunities, Kiwanis paves the way for leadership growth. Studies have shown that youth who have access to leadership training and service opportunities are more likely to ach8ieve academic success, continue their education, and evolve into community leaders. That's why Kiwanis UK will use the funds raised to create 10 of our Key Clubs where children learn to become leaders.
