I am visiting India in October 2018 to complete a hike around the foothills of the Himalayas and would like to use this opportunity to raise £1500+ towards equipment for the Cancer Unit of our local hospital Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.

The majority of people know someone who has been affected by cancer and have required hospitalisation . We are all aware of the financial stress that has fallen upon the NHS and how stretched and overworked their services are. My intention is to provide the hospital with a fund which can be contributed towards equipment within the facility. Resources are often scarce within the hospital as most people who have attended the hospital or read news recent reports will know, with some wards only acquiring one wheelchair to be shared amongst many patients. My hope is after hearing many complaints about the lack of facilities and equipment that the hospital has, people will generously donate to my cause to assist the unit at this hard time. Cancer affects many people within Wales, with many long term hospilisations meaning the end of life for some and these patients and those caring for and treating them should have access to the correct facilities and equipment to give them the best quality of life possible at this time, the same circumstances should apply those who's stay may be temporary. Cancer treatment is very complex and often requires a lot of after care and a lot of equipment to monitor the illness. We may not be able to reverse this life-changing and horrendous illness but we can improve the facilities and comfort of those suffering.

It is going to be a long time before the NHS recovers from the crisis which they are facing and a long time before we see any improvements but I believe that we can all do our best and contribute to local institutions to improve their services even if we start small with specific units within these hospitals. I hope that many of you support me and the cause I am pursuing.
