Story

We are asking for £2 per kilometer for our two inter-continental and inter-generational cycling teams:

• PoKora 100 – In Nepal, Sarita, Ellie and I will do the Lake-to-Lake around Pokhara in mid-western Nepal – we will help each other get around Begnas and Rupakot lakes on 87k of hilly trails ending at Fewa lake – here a “warm-down” will get us to 100k under these beautiful 8,000 meter mountains https://cyclecitypokhara.org.np/

• Danish Dynamite Seniors – In Denmark, my parents and their friends will cycle 50k each on a small island, where they will break two Kora records – the eldest rider (my dad at 79) and the lowest altitude Kora – their track will involve a 15k stretch sandy beach facing the North Sea, seal sightings, and a “climb” to the island’s highest point at 21 meters above sea level - https://visitfanoe.dk/en/home/

How’s that for a celebration of the beauty and diversity of nature!?!

But we do this for a cause. We are also passionate about animal rights and women’s empowerment, so our fundraising will be split equally between an organisation called Animal Nepal, who works for Animal Welfare in Nepal, a kitten rescue organisation called Catmandu Lovers, and a local organisation providing skills development for single women in the Kathmandu Valley.

As the combined owners of no less than 6 rescue animals from Nepal and great admirers of Nepali women’s resilience and determination to live fulfilling and dignified lives in a very patriarchal society, we really hope you will join us to support these important causes.

This one is dedicated to Simi, Koochoo, Nanouk, Piper, Maku, Juno and all the amazing Nepali women who enrich our lives every day! You rock!
